Meet Ruth Wahtera. Discover a new copywriter you can call upon to deliver well written, targeted copy. Get to know me now, before you need a copy writer in a hurry.

You may have an important piece of writing coming up. Your staff may be stretched. Or, maybe you don't have in-house talent. But you know that the writing is important. It needs to draw your audience in. Capture their imagination. Sell your concept.

You know what you want to say. You want folks to pay attention. Better yet, you want them to respond to what you've said.

When you need a professional writer to craft the copy that will sell your concept, your service, or your product, I can help.

Why use a professional freelance writer?

Whether your working on a new service or product, making a proposal to funders, or implementing new policies and procedures, how well you communicate in writing will impact your success.

If you don't have in-house writing talent, you can engage a freelance writer for a particular project without making an on-going commitment.

If your in-house staff is stretched with other responsibilities, engaging a professional writer lets you move ahead on schedule. You'll get a better document, sooner. Your project will move forward faster.

If you need a fresh approach, a freelancer can bring a new perspective to a project. That new perspective may make all the difference.

But there's another important reason.

Writing to get a response is a special skill. You don't learn it in your high school or college English class.

When you want to get someone's attention, build a relationship with your customer, get an order, win a grant, you want an expert to write for you. To translate your thoughts into strong, action-inspiring words

Why Ruth Wahtera?

I offer a unique blend of experience and skills.

First, you'll discover that I understand your goals.

I run my own small business now. I worked as a senior executive in a large healthcare system for many years. I've been responsible for planning and marketing, for bringing in the revenue. I can share your perspective. I can anticipate many of your concerns.

You'll find that my copy works.

I've been trained in direct response writing by the best in the business. When I decided to give up the corporate world for my love -- freelance writing -- I knew I had to reframe my writing style. Bureaucrateez wouldn't work. Bob Bly, Michael Masterson, and the other folks at AWAI taught me the ropes and worked with me to reshape my style.

I do my homework.

I'm fanatic about not writing until I understand your audience, their motivation, and their expectations. I believe in research. I ask lots of questions. I listen really well. I push until everything fits together right -- until I see what will motivate your audience to respond to your message. I may be writing for you, but I'm writing to them.

Here's what I write

  • Direct response packages
  • Proposals and grants
  • Newsletters. E-newsletters
  • Website content
  • Business plans
  • Press releases and letters
  • Articles and ghost writing.
  • Brochures and other collateral
  • Annual reports.

Just about anything you could think of. (My New England up-bringing makes me a little shy about love letters, though. And I haven't got a great novel in me struggling to get out.)

I can also edit or rewrite material you already have. Perhaps it's time for a facelift for your marketing materials.

How do you know my writing will accomplish your goal?

Review my samples. You'll get a feeling for my style. You'll know whether you like it. Does it engage you? Does it make you want to read more?

You can also measure the impact of my writng by the response to the grants I've written. In less than two years I've delivered over $5 million in grant funding to my clients-- and several proposals are still pending. Odds are, that figure will rise.

What's the next step?

Get to know me and my work. Do it now, even if you don't have a specific project in mind. A conversation today will save time later.

We can just say hello, and you can tell me about your business. We can talk about how I might help.

Thanks for considering me. Give me a call. My number's at the bottom of every page. I hope we'll get to work together. I'm looking forward to it.

Ruth,
I am so excited, we were awarded the Family Education Grant!

They raved about your proposal, they said "boy she really knows how to write." This is a wonderful opportunity for FSI and for the families we will serve. Your grant writing skills and mentorship have been such an asset to us and I want to express my sincere gratitude.

With warm regards,
Joan
